What was your favourite childhood book and why?

In my youth, I loved the Fighting Fantasy series (starting with The Warlock of Firetop Mountain) by Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone – the books where you were the hero and could choose the direction of the story. Perhaps that’s why I became an author so I could write my own adventures!

Which of your own books is your favourite and why?

This question is like choosing who is my favourite child! I love them all the same but for different reasons. If I had to choose one, it would be Young Samurai: The Way of the Warrior. This was my first fiction book and it has taken me around the world, led to eight more books in the series and inspired so many readers to take up martial arts.

Why do you choose to read?

If you want a strong and healthy body, you exercise. If you want a strong and healthy mind, you read. There is nothing better for your mental health than reading. Books encourage empathy, improve intelligence, help you express your feelings and can be a huge comfort during hard times.
