Children’s author Clare Helen Welsh joined the University of Plymouth Teachers’ Reading Group this week to talk about her extensive catalogue of wonderful texts, from fiction to ‘faction’ and even picture books with no words. She carefully explained her creative process and how, as an ex-primary teacher, she writes with children’s development in mind. She also spoke about her www.booksthathelp.co.uk project where she recommends books to support children through the challenging times in life.
Clare’s enthusiasm and ideas helped us all to reflect on our own projects and she stayed for the rest of the session for continued discussion while we worked on our Examples of Practice. There was much excitement from those in the room and those joining us online.
