Leyburn TRG: an update from Sarah Beveridge

Due to the current situation in schools with large numbers of staff and pupils affected, we had a much smaller Teacher’s Reading Group meeting for our third session. What we lost in numbers, we more than made up for in discussion and all felt re-energised as a result.

Children seeing themselves as readers and reading widely and frequently formed the majority of our discussion.

Front-facing storage, courtesy of IKEA picture shelves, seems to gaining hold in KS1 but what about KS2, when the visual focus moves to the spines of books?

Although meeting virtually has had its limitations, in this case it had huge benefits as we were able to share our reading environments with each other.

We all were inspired by David Fenn’s KS2 classroom and how this supports book talk and choice for his UKS2 class.
