We had our first virtual meeting in May. We started with everyone sharing what they had been doing to support RfP during this lockdown period with schools closed. One of the teacher’s, Claire Rowlands, shared her wonderful Book of Dragons inspired by Jackie Morris’ picture book, Tell Me a Dragon. The Book of Dragons is a beautiful creation bringing together all the children’s work that has come from sharing this book. You can see how the book has evolved here:

Claire Douglas, who co-leads this group, shared how CLPE’s Reflecting Realities report has enabled her to bring a new richer and wider range of texts into the school she works in, Clytha Primary School, Newport, South Wales. She shared a summary of her research with the group to support their own practice in this area of children’s literature. We finished with a sharing of recent reads that we have each loved. It was a wonderful to all meet up and we are looking forward to our next group session in June.
