The final session of the Lewisham teachers RfP group was a lovely occasion, sharing projects and considering next steps. Common threads in the presentations were a strong emphasis on developing the social environment and the themes of pupil voice and ownership of reading spaces; both inside and outside the classroom. Experience within the group ranged from those new to the profession and highly experienced senior managers, but all shared a commitment to promoting reading for pleasure and recognized the power of learning from and supporting each other. We celebrated the end of a busy and stimulating year with a glass of sparkling wine and plan to keep in touch with new friends and contacts.
