Update from the Teachers Reading Group in Ely

Members of the Ely’s March Teachers as Readers have enjoyed two meetings so far and are looking forward to the third meeting in April. Our fabulously enthusiastic and knowledgeable group are brimming with recommendations and ideas and we have enjoyed giving plenty of time over to book blether around picture books, chapter books, non-fiction and poetry. After the excitement of the ‘mystery book box’, we have also explored book collections linked around different themes in each meeting, enjoying ‘Christmas’ and ‘Twisted Fairy Tales’ so far. We reflected on the impact of reading communities in schools and considered how and where informal book talk takes place between different members of the school community. These discussions saw attendees of the group sharing good practice and taking inspiration from the case studies Research Rich Pedagogies website.  After reviewing their own practice and identifying areas for development, members are now busy implementing their development plans and we are looking forward to the updates in the next session!
